Coppell based Stripe King DFW featured by Voyage Dallas Magazine

We were recently selected by Voyage Dallas Magazine for a nice article written by Mr. Jonathan Chang which tells our story.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason McCray.

Jonathan Chang: “Jason, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?”

Jason McCray: “At the time, I opened Stripe King, I was working as the Senior Vice President of an Irving-based document destruction company and had been for 7 years. One day, our company owner was outside our building in the parking lot mentioning to another employee how the Irving Fire Marshal’s office had visited the property the day before. The fire lane needed to be restriped and repainted where they had some work done to the parking lot recently.”

“As he saw me walking into our building, knowing I was a “jack-of-all-trades,” he said “Jason – can you do this parking lot stuff for me? If you can make it look nice and compliant with the city so we don’t get fined, I’d rather pay you to do it than someone else.” I replied, “Sure! No problem.” So I researched city compliance and code, worked with the Fire Marshal’s office, read a lot about pavement marking online, and bought tools and supplies to get the job done and that became my first work order. And the rest is history as they say… I’ve always been somewhat fearless when it comes to taking on new challenges and always one to figure things out.”

Jonathan Chang: “Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?”

Jason McCray: “I wouldn’t say smooth, but definitely not an off-road adventure really either. Sometimes equipment doesn’t cooperate. Even the weather can make things interesting, particularly wind and rain. In my operations career, I’ve learned to think proactively and be prepared for things that might come up from job to job. Anytime we have challenges, we put on our problem-solving badges and dive right in. It all seems to work out and our customers all get a great service which makes it all worth it in the end.”

Jonathan Chang: “Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Stripe King DFW – what should we know?”

Jason McCray: “We specialize in pavement marking services. We stripe and restripe parking areas of all kinds. We also offer sports court painting services which is a lot of fun. I’d say the personal touch you get with us is probably what sets us apart. Our customers receive a “what you see is what you get” type of service with no surprises. If it’s in their proposal, right down to the arrival time on the service date, that’s the way it’s going to happen. As basic as it sounds, a good service can be a bit hard to come by nowadays.”

Jonathan Chang: “Any shout-outs? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?

Jason McCray: “The guys in our operations department are amazing. They produce the product everyone sees! They are all about detail and take pride in the work they do. I sometimes refer to them as “parking lot Picassos!” As for the service and communication portion of Stripe King, I just try and remember to treat our customers the way I would want to be treated if I were on their end. Old-fashioned business principles can go a long way even in today’s modern world!”
